Giant Red Italian Onions
Produces enormous crops of enormous onions, all clean, solid, heavy and perfect. Sure cropper. A large handsome globular variety; most uniform in size and shape and color; the whole crop produced is just like peas in a pod, all alike. It has a very small neck for such a large onion and the bulbs always ripen up hard and fine; skin blood-red in color; flesh very tender, sweet, of mild flavor and unsurpassed for culinary purposes; a heavy cropper. This is not only the largest red onion but the largest of all onions in cultivation; it frequently measures 6 to 8 inches in diameter and attains a weight of 3 to 4 pounds and more the first year from seed. In its early stages of growth it is light in color, with streaks of white alternated with the red, but as it approaches maturity it assumes both without and within the characteristic red color which has given it such wide flavor and fame. Its productivity, large size, beautiful appearance make it a most desirable onion to grow either for market or home garden. This is a very heavy seller with us and our stock is invariably sold out at the end of the season. Pkt. 5C; oz. 45C; 2 oz. 80C; ¼ lb. $1.50; ½ lb. $2.85; lb. $5.50
