Burpee's Emerald Gem Melon
Introduced thirty years ago ( in 1886), this has been long acknowledged the most delicious in flavor – the standard by which all other melons must be judged. One of the earliest to ripen, and while too soft to stand shipping any great distance it is unequaled for home use or nearby markets. The skin is a rich deep emerald-green, smooth, and free from netting. Flesh very thick, crystalline in appearance, and of a rich salmon color. Pkt., 5c; oz., 15c; ¼ lb., 40c; lb., $1.25.
