This is extremely early, being one of the first early beets. The shape is nearly round, very smooth, a rich red, fine-grained and of extra quality. The tops are small, making fine bunches. Crosby's Egyptian Beets
This is one of the best varieties for forcing. It is also excellent for first early crop out doors, being very early, with small tops. The leaves are dark green, shaded and veined with dark red. The roots are very dark red, moderately thick, a little rounded on top, distinctly flat on the bottom. The flesh is dark purplish red, zoned lighter shade; firm, crisp and tender.
