California Golden
This beautiful miniature variety of pop corn is a native of Lower California, and is certainly a curious and beautiful variety. The stalks grow from 3 ½ to 4 feet high, bearing numerous, very small ears from 2 to 3 inches in length, perfect in form and shape. Its deep pointed grains are of a fine, rich golden color, and its popping qualities are splendid. When dried, shelled and popped, each grain forms a round, white ball, looking like miniature balls of snow. It is also valuable and highly esteemed for mantel ornaments and Christmas decorations, as the small, delicate, beautiful ears, with their shining golden grains, among everlastings, dried grasses, or other holiday decorations, form a remarkable, pleasing and attractive appearance. It is extremely hardy and very productive, nearly every stalk bearing from 3 to 6 perfect eras. Pkt., 15c; 2 pkts., 25c.
Golden Tom Thumb
An exceedingly fine novelty. The stalks grow only eighteen inches high, and each stalk produces two or three perfect little ears, only 2 to 2 ¼ inches long, completely filled with bright, golden-yellow grains, which, when popped, expand to a large size. On one stalk we measured three ears, starting from within six inches of the ground. The stalks do not stool, and each stalk averages five leaves, which are of an extra dark green color. In a word it is a perfect miniature corn, most distinct from its handsome dwarf growth. So ornamental and compact is the growth, that we are quite sure it will be a feature of many a garden. It grows very quickly and the ears are ready to gather by August 1st. Pkt., 10c; 3 pkts., 25c.
Improved Red Rice
A fine sort of good size ear, and dark red colored kernels. When popped it is pure white and very tender. One of the very best sorts grown. Pkt., 5c; pt., 25c.
Mapledale Prolific
A most marvelous pop-corn, as it bears from 10 to 20 ears on a stalk, to the utter astonishment of all who see it. The introducer claims it will average 12 ears to the stalk, another party reports 121 ears from 10 stalks. It is fine quality, and of course outstrips all in productiveness. Pkt., 15c; pt., 50c.
New Striped
A most beautiful and highly valuable sort. The color is clear, transparent white, and each kernel is distinctly striped with bright crimson. The ears are of good size and well filled out; kernels are long and pointed, resembling rice. It ripens early and is very productive. When popped, it is extremely tender, snow-white, large and delicious. Pkt., 10c.
Queen's Golden
This handsome new pop-corn is splendid in yield, in sturdy growth, in size, and in color when popped – being of a delicate golden yellow. Above all, its exceeding tenderness when popped, together with its delicious and delicate taste. When popped it expands to an inch in diameter, and is as white and light as a snowflake. Pkt., 10c; pt., 40c.
Snowflake
A superb sort with light pointed kernels set thickly on the cob. When popped it is very large, and very light, white as snow and as sweet as a nut. Pkt., 5c; pt., 40c.
