This remarkable vegetable is quite new. It is a wonderful curative for all disorders of the stomach. It produces a large quantity of compact short stems, which, when cut, are reproduced time after time. The benefit derived from the consumption of these stems for only a short time, by those having weak digestion, is said to be remarkable. The leaves when boiled make a very wholesome and delicious salad, and the strong shoots when young and tender are cooked and eaten like asparagus. It can be blanched and rendered very tender by simple covering. When fully known this vegetable will prove to be a valuable acquisition to our gardens and vegetable markets, and no garden should be without it. Pkt., 10c;
