Citron
This melon is used exclusively for making preserves. The flesh is thick and clear white, and makes preserves of excellent quality. Cultivation similar to watermelons. There are two varieties, one with red seed and the other with green. The green-seeded variety is called Colorado Preserving. We offer either kind. Pkt., 5c; oz., 10c; ¼ lb., 30c; lb., $1.00, prepaid.
Cole's Early
Next to Isbell's Earliest and Sweetest, this is the finest watermelon for family use and home market. Melons seldom over 12 inches long and 9 inches in diameter, but what they lack in size they more than make up in number and quality. Rind green, striped with a lighter shade. On account of the thin and brittle rind, Cole's Early is not suited for shipping. Flesh bright red, crisp, delicate texture, juicy and sparkling. In flavor it is lusciously sweet and refreshing. Very early and can be grown successfully over a larger latitude than any other variety. Black seed. Matures in 75 days. Pkt., 5c; oz., 10c; ¼ lb., 25c; lb., 75c, prepaid. Not prepaid, 5 lbs., $3.00.
Golden Honey

Flesh of rich golden yellow color, firm, crisp and glistening, and fairly melts in your mouth. Fruits medium large, oblong, rind hard and of very dark green color. Halbert Honey
A favorite in the eastern states. Growing as long and big as the Kleckley's Sweet. They average 18 to 20 inches in length; 6 to 8 inches in diameter. Color of rind, a clear, glossy deep green. The flesh is a beautiful crimson, extending to within less than half an inch of the rind, which, like the flesh, is so tender it will not stand shipping. Light colored seed. For the home garden and local market. Matures in 85 days. Pkt., 5c; oz., 10c; ¼ lb., 30c; lb., 90c, prepaid. Not prepaid, 5 lbs., $3.75.
Harris' Earliest
The originator of this Melon (Mr. B. F. Harris), says: “For 20 years we have been trying to find an extra early watermelon, with which we could beat all competitors, and one that would be the first on the market, and at last our efforts are crowned with success. We have never seen its equal.” The general shape and appearance of the Harris are shown in the illustration. The skin is mottled with green and white. The flesh is red, sweet, juicy and crisp. The seeds are black. The weight averages 15 to 20 pounds. Its table quality is first-class. Matures in 75 days. Pkt., 5c; oz., 10c; ¼ lb., 30c; lb., 90c, prepaid. Not prepaid, 5 lbs., $3.75.
Irish Gray
Also called General Pershing. The size of this melon is uniformly large, and it closely resembles Kleckley's Sweet except the color, which is a yellowish gray. Flesh is very sweet and firm, without hard center, brilliant sparkling red. Rind is almost as tough as a citron, making it a grand shipper. Seed is white. Also recommended for the home garden on account of its superior quality. Pkt., 5c; oz., 15c; ¼ lb., 30c; lb., 90c, prepaid.
Isbell's Earliest and Sweetest
Very early and deliciously sweet. It fairly melts in your mouth. The size is medium, averaging from 10 to 15 pounds. The flesh is scarlet, of extra fineness and sweetness. Entirely free from stringiness. This variety is one of the most prolific known, and as the plant is of hardy and vigorous growth we are not surprised that this melon has become extremely popular. It is a cross between Mountain Sweet and Cole's Early, combining the best qualities of both. Fruits are of attractive appearance, the rind being mottled with several shades of green. Ripe melons in 75 days. Pkt., 10c; oz., 15c; ¼ lb., 40c; lb., $1.20, prepaid. Not prepaid, 5 lbs., $5.00.
Kleckley's Sweet or Monte Cristo
This melon has become immensely popular because of its superb flavor and surpassing crispness. On account of its crispness and tenderness it is not recommended for shipping, but for nearby markets and for home consumption it has no superior. Shape is accurately shown in illustration; average length is about 18 to 20 inches. The large fruits taper slightly toward the stem end. Color very dark green, almost black. Quality is superb. Seeds are white and placed close to the rind, outside of the big, solid, bright scarlet heart. Season is medium early; nothing can be finer for the latitude of Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, etc. Matures in 80 days. Pkt., 5c; oz., 10c; ¼ lb., 25c; lb., 80c, prepaid. Not prepaid, 5 lbs., $3.25.
New Klondike
One of the best early watermelons from a quality standpoint. We believe it is the sweetest of all early sorts. The melons are oblong and of an even dark green color. Flesh is deep red, exceptionally crisp, and tender as well as most delicious in flavor. A very good yielder and has given excellent satisfaction in the North for the market as well as home use. The seed is small, black with brown markings. Pkt., 10c; oz., 15c; ¼ lb., 45c; lb., $1.35, prepaid.
New Stone Mountain
Also called Dixie Belle or Lipsey. Is claimed to be the best watermelon in existence. It originated in Georgia and was named after the Great Stone Mountain in that state. The melons are very large, almost round, rich green. The flesh is bright scarlet, extremely sweet and of finest quality, solid through, almost all heart and but very few seeds. When eaten once, it is not forgotten – the finest and sweetest flavor of them all. On the southern markets it outsells all other melons and at much higher prices. We offer Michigan grown seed, best for the states north of the Mason-Dixon line. Pkt., 10c; oz., 15c; ¼ lb., 40c; lb., $1.20, prepaid. Not prepaid, 5 lbs., $5.00.
New “Winter” Melon
A sweet, luscious watermelon for your Thanksgiving dinner from your own garden. The fruits are of medium size, round, pale yellow when ripening. Flesh bright red, crystalline, sweet as honey. Peerless
This old standby is our best general cropper for the home market; has too thin a rind for shipping unless packed in straw. Few, if any, surpass a Peerless for quality and productiveness. Ripens very early; fruit oblong, large size, rind light green, mottled and veined; flesh bright scarlet, solid to the center, melting and delicious. A great favorite with our customers in the central and northern states. Seeds white. Matures in 75 days. Pkt., 5c; oz., 10c; ¼ lb., 25c; lb., 80c, prepaid. Not prepaid, 5 lbs., $3.25.
Tom Watson
A great shipping melon. This melon has surprised everybody by its sudden rise in popularity. It is a long, green variety covered with a fine netting, giving it a most attractive appearance. The flesh is of most superb quality and intensely red color. The rind is thin, but hard and tough so that it is unequalled as a market and shipping sort. Seed is white, spotted brown. The melons are of large size and heavy, about 24 inches long and 10 to 12 inches through. A good yielder. We recommend it as a very good main crop sort. Our seed cannot be excelled. Matures in 85 days. Pkt., 5c; oz., 10c; ¼ lb., 25c; lb., 85c, prepaid. Not prepaid, 5 lbs., $3.50.
