Celeriac or Turnip Rooted Celery
Earliest of all. Large smooth roots, almost round; few side roots. Our stock of this variety has been especially cultivated and will be found fine. Pkt. 4C; oz. 25c.
Fordhook Emperor
An entirely distinct new Winter Celery, excelling by far any other winter variety known today in solidity, weight and flavor. A most distinct variety of outstanding merit and the best new vegetable introduced in recent years. It is of true dwarf type averaging about 15 to 18 inches in height, while the blanched portion is about 6 to 9 inches long. The stalks are smooth and very thick, measuring more than ½ inch across when cut, and a stalk although low growing averages more than two pounds in weight. The tops are green, while the outer stalks blanch white and the heart is tinged with yellow. The flavor is of superlative excellence, decidedly nutty and crisp. Owing to its dwarf growth this variety is easy to blanch. Ptk. 8C; oz. 35C; ¼ lb. $1.15; ½ lb. $2.00; lb. $3.50
Genuine Golden Heart
Original private stock. One of the best late celeries. This variety makes a very strong, vigorous plant, with large, very white, crisp, brittle, tender and fine flavored stalks; it is late, and requires the whole season to develop, but will keep longer than any other sort. We recommend it as worthy of first place
Giant Pascal
A selection from the Golden Self Blanching, and adds to the general good qualities of its parent, superior keeping qualities. The stalks are very large, thick, solid, crisp, and of a rich nutty flavor, free from any trace of bitterness. Pkt. 4C; oz. 20C; 2 oz. 38C; ¼ lb. 75c.
Golden Self-Blanching
This is the best celery for early use. Plants of a yellowish green color when young, but as they mature, the inner stems and leaves turn a beautiful golden yellow, which adds much to their attractiveness and makes the work of blanching much easier. The handsome color, crispness, tenderness, freedom from stringiness and fine nutty flavor of this variety makes it only necessary to be tried in order to establish it as the standard of excellence and as an early variety. American grown seed. Pkt. 4C; oz. 28C; 2 oz. 55; ¼ lb. $1.10
New Columbia
An early maturing sort unsurpassed in shape and quality. The plant is of medium height but very stocky and heavy. The stalks are thick, almost round, resembling in shape those of Giant Pascal; the color has in it more of the rich yellow tint of Golden Yellow Self-Blanching which variety it resembles very much in appearance when trimmed and bunched for the market. Its quality is certainly exceptionally fine. Pkt. 5C; ½ oz. 25C; oz. 45C; 2 oz. 80C; ¼ lb. $1.50
White Plume
The earliest of all celeries. It is too widely known to require extended description. We will only say that we have not yet found a strain that is as early and of as good a flavor, crisp, and tender as our selection of this sort. It is not as good a keeper as the other varieties, but it is unsurpassed for Fall and early Winter use, and can be blanched ready for the table in September. Pkt. 4C; oz. 20C; 2 oz. 38C; ¼ lb. 75c.
